I’m very excited to talk about our new partner Boston.com.
As many people know, Boston.com is a very popular portal on the East Coast. In fact, as the web arm of the Boston Globe (owned by the New York Times company) it’s one of the biggest portal sites for any newspaper in the country. Personally, I visit Boston.com everyday for news, weather, sports, traffic, and event listings (to name a few). It’s a great site.
That’s why it’s particularly gratifying that we now can count Boston.com as our close partner. As of this afternoon, MyPunchbowl.com is now an integral part of the “Your Life” section on Boston.com. We have licensed our software to Boston.com, and launched a co-branded site inside of Boston.com.
(One quick technical note: if you want to see the site, you may have to clear your MyPunchbowl cookies. Here’s the test: if you go to boston.mypunchbowl.com and it redirects you to www.mypunchbowl.com then you need to clear your MyPunchbowl.com cookies. To do this, search your cookies folder for “mypunchbowl” and delete all related cookies. Or, here’s an easier way: simply use a different browser than your typical browser.)
We’ve been working on this partnership with Boston.com for several months. We first approached them shortly after we launched MyPunchbowl.com in January. We had seen their integration with Zvents for events listings and we were very impressed. The people at Boston.com are very savvy when it comes to integrating new technology. They currently partner with Yahoo, Monster.com, and Zvents (just to name a few). Their integration is deep and well thought out. We’re very happy that MyPunchbowl is now included on this list.
Boston.com will be promoting the MyPunchbowl software alongside their typical coverage of weddings. They believe (and we agree) that the Boston.com/MyPunchbowl site is a great product for planning engagement parties, bridal showers, bachelorette parties and bachelor parties. For now, the focus will be promoting the software around these types of events. Look for expansion in the future with bold tie-ins to key events and holidays.
