MyPunchbowl Launches Breakthrough “Pick-a-Date” Feature

Although we are not formally launching our new version until tomorrow morning, TechCrunch has the lead on our new “Pick-a-Date” feature.

I’ll say this: I’ve been in software development for the better part of 15 years, and I’ve never been as excited about a feature as I am about “Pick-a-Date.” It’s a beautiful blend of engineering, elegant user interface, and innovation. Best of all, it solves a real problem that our users have asked us to solve. We’re very excited to share this new functionality with the world.

I have much to say about our new release. For now, read the TechCrunch story and then create an account to give MyPunchbowl’s Pick-a-Date a try.

I would love to post some positive feedback about your service on my blog. However, I sent out an Invite last night for a party this weekend and now your site is not letting me access my dashboard or the invitation or anything for that matter.

    Please advise.

We had an issue this morning and now it is resolved. Please try again and let us know if you still have any problems. Thanks! – Matt

    Thanks for the update.

    Great looking site!

A couple of ideas/suggestions (if I may be so bold):
    1. Include an option for the Host/Hostess to see who has opened the Invite, who has forwarded it, etc… (a la or similar)

    2. Include an option to add Items needed for the party. Like a list of food to bring, games to bring, etc… and have them checked off as people volunteer to bring the items.

    1) We do offer the ability to see who has viewed the invite etc. If you sent a “Save the Date” click on “Save the Date guests” to see this info. If you have sent a “Full Invitation” click on “Manage Guests.” Let us know if you need help.

    2) Yes, we agree. Wait until you see what we have up our sleeve in this area.

Didn’t evite come out with this feature a long long time ago? I don’t see anything exciting or innovative about it

I’d encourage you to use it for a real event, and you will see that this is *much* different than anything that is out there today. This is not a simple poll or tallying of responses: this is a real-time algorithm that takes many inputs into account and automatically recommends the best date for the host. Use it, and then let us know what you think.
